Our first World Around Us topic is all about Bessbrook! We have been busy learning about the history and people that make our village special. Take a look at some of the exciting activities we have been enjoying and the new things we have discovered along the way! ๐๐โจ
We looked at pictures of Derrymore House and talked about the different features we could see. Then, we carefully sketched our own pictures of Derrymore House before using watercolours to paint them. We spent time outlining our paintings and adding extra details to make them look realistic and colourful. ๐จ๐กโจ
We learned about some of the buildings in Bessbrook and what they used to be in the past. Then, we took a walk around our village to see what the buildings look like today and what they are used for now. It was really interesting to compare the past with the present and we enjoyed exploring our local area together. ๐
Why not ask us about the different buildings we discovered and see if we can tell you what they used to be? โจ๐๏ธ
Did you know that our school has its very own museum? The boys and girls in P3/4 were super excited to visit it for the first time and explore all the fascinating items inside. We carefully looked at the different objects and talked about what they might have been used for in the past. It was great fun being history detectives and discovering clues about life long ago! ๐ต๏ธโ๏ธ๐
We had a fantastic time exploring the museum and learning more about the history of our local area. ๐๐โญ
