Today, 12th November, P6/7 visited the museum in Armagh and participated in a workshop all about WW2. We got to hold artefacts from the time and work as detectives to determine what they were used for. Afterwards we learned about The Evacuation, Propaganda and Rationing - we were shocked by the small amount of food each person was allowed! Finally we made our very own gas mask! It was very interesting and we’re looking forward to our new topic!
Today, 18th October, P6/7 visited the Newry and Mourne Museum and participated in a workshop all about the Vikings! We met Freya who told us about life in a Viking settlement. We learned about Viking trade, battle and weapons! It was great fun!
At the end of our trip we were complimented on our Viking knowledge, our behaviour and our interest in the workshop! Well done P6/7!
Today, Wednesday 18th September, P6/7 took their learning outdoors! We are learning about myths. Today we worked with a partner to read a Viking myth and identify the features of myth such as: good versus bad, magical creatures, different worlds or lands. We decided to complete our work outside in the sunshine. We read and discussed the myth with a partner before returning indoors to see how many features we correctly identified. It was fun to work outside and with a partner!
On Tuesday 17th September, we visited Gosford forest park and learned to read maps, use a compass and make our way through the forest. We worked in teams to find a number of markers in the woods and ‘check in’ using a walkie-talkie! It was great fun, especially as we had a beautiful sunny day!
